Bye bye Grey...hello Blue
Bye bye Grey...hello Blue
Trading in the dark shadow grey for a brand spankin' new pearl blue. I'm sticking with an XLT but wanted to jump ship and go with blue (this was my second grey truck).
Question: Anyone know a process for painting a Leer topper to match? I'm either going to sell the topper or paint it to match. It is in darn good condition so selling it shouldn't be a problem.

post some pics whn you get the new ride.i can understand having the saame color vehicle more than once change is good.sorry i cant help on the paint deal maybe talk to a reputable body shop or see if the place you got your top from maybe they can recommend someone.
There should be no trouble having your DSG topper painted to match your new truck -- take it to any body shop in town and they should be able to rap that out for a fairly reasonable price......
If I can figure out how to upload pics I certainly will.
As far as the color...yeah, I thought I could get a body shop to do the painting but I was hoping to save some $$ and do it myself. Otherwise I'll definitely look into someone else doing it. If I end up selling it I doubt that I'll get another one. Probably just get a tonneau cover instead.
I didn't realize how much stuff I had put into my current truck until I had to remove it all. Edge tuner, CB, Sirius radio and PIE adapter as well as all of the day-to-day crap that I was hauling around. Took me a good hour to remove everything and return it to stock.
Here is the kicker...I just dropped $1,100 bucks for new tires (Goodyear LT265/70R17, 10 plys). The dealer agreed to trade my current tires from my current truck to the new truck at no charge. No freakin' way was I going to let those tires go with the truck. I had originally planned on buying the grey truck at the end of the lease but then I started thinking, "if I'm going to buy a truck, may as well make it a new one".
About 5,000 miles ago I did a bunch of maintenance. Front and rear diff fluids, t-case fluid, new front brakes (didn't get around to the rears yet) as well as Bilstein 5100's on the rear. I still have my old front rotors and was thinking of throwing them back on the old truck before trading it in and keeping the rotors I got from rotorpros. Don't know if I want to really mess with that at this time though. It'll be at least 2 years before I have to deal with brakes again and figure I can buy two more when the time comes.

I washed and waxed the new "lady" last night and took some pics. Unfortunately the gallery isn't allowing me to upload so I'll have to wait until that is working.
I'll be putting a Herculiner bed liner in on Wednesday. Anyone have any tips/advice before I tackle this? I'm planning to tape off the termination lines where I want to stop the liner but don't know if there is anything I should watch out for.

Nice choice of color. The blue never gets old. I like the way it turns purple in the right lighting.
