Cool 15mpg? Wtf

I calculated my last tank of fuel (on paper) at 14.9mpg. This is with 10" of lift and 38/15.50/20s. Wow.. I must have had mucho tailwinds.

That's 80%highway btw. But still amazing I was getting 17.5-18mpg with a leveling kit only. I did the math 3 times. Yeehaw!

The price of gas is the price of gas IMO. It's not THAT much more, if anything it's just reduced my pointless cruising around.

I try to streamline my trips, but don't bitch about the cost of fuel.. We're lucky it's not like Europe!

What gears are you running? Did you do a locker in the rear? I am looking to do gears soon and don't know what brand to go with. Any help would be great.
Thanks,
Eric

Genuine Gears 4.56 ratio - They have a lifetime warranty on any failures or malfunctions. Priced moderately too. And no I have no locker.

I'm right there with you Tex!

From the other MPG thread I posted this:

Holy crap anyone getting less MPG than me has some work to do. That means everyone above this post. 4.56 gears, tuner, intake, exhaust. First big improvement was laying off the pedal and trying to keep the RPMs under 2k, yea a pain in the *** on acceleration but it helps drastically. Second I changed my route to work to cutting down the number of stops. That means gravel roads but oh well. Then use the cruise control and do the damn speed limit. last thing don't idle the truck unless you are at a stop sign. My MPG was around 10-11 now it's 14-15. So take it for what it's worth but if my truck can get respectable mileage you guys surely can do better.

I am only getting 13 mpg but I guess it has to do with me living in the hill country and I also am a superintendent for a home builder. All I do is drive to a home, get out, check on some stuff, get back in, drive to the next one, and do that 30 times a day. Plus unfortunately, I am helping out and working in two subdivisions that are 30 minutes apart. I am filling up at least every 3 days with a 30 gallon tank.

Is your speedometer/odometer corrected for the gear ratio and tire size?

No they do not, but at tax time I do OK. Still sucks. I am going to ask if they will reimburse me for this time that I have been in 2 subdivisions. They probably will. It is a very good company to work for. They usually take care of you, but their wallet has been a little tight with the housing market the way it is. San Antonio is doing very well but the company I work for is also in some horrible markets and we have to pick up some of the slack.

Nice! In my last two trips i averaged 13.6 (amarillo-lubbock) and 13.9 (amarillo-wichita falls). Im thinking if i didnt run 75-80 down the highway and did the speed limit i could maybe pull what you got. None the less im right there with you about the price of gas, I knew the price of gas was probably goin to go up, and when I lifted it I definately knew it was goin up. but i did it all anyway...
