I dont have this problem?! even when I do park close the worst they could do is ding the bottom of the door, but most ppl ive seen are very careful around it and too busy checkin it out. most of the time tho I park in two places out in the boonies and cars just stream by checking out the truck.

Sorry to hear though man, when I was stock height i got a few dings too.

And I'm the a-hole that when seeing you taking 2 spots in a small lot, I used to park my beater as close as humanly possible to your drivers side. I'd even fold my mirrors in. I don't have a beater anymore, plus I've grown up some so its been awhile. But it still ticks me off when somebody takes 2 spots and I can't find a place to park.

I'm sure it does. Unfortunately, there are so many people that do not respect others property, for what ever reason it may be, that you gotta do what you gotta do to protect your investment. BTW, I'd be waiting for you after you parked like that next to me, regardless!

You wouldn't have been the first to wait for me. Still didn't stop me.

And I have to question your use of the word "investment". A vehicle is almost never an investment. Unless it is a classic or one of a limited run. I can't even say the new GT500's are an investment, it will be quite some time before they have a return on them. Plus with as many people that are buying them and garaging them.

Now if you were driving a classic Ferrari, I'd respect that. But your F150 isn't special, and you aren't special either (I don't care what your mommy told you). Be an adult, one who is courteous to others and park decently. I don't care if you park in the far lot, just use one space.

I think what really gets me is the mentality of people who just drive off. When I was about 10 yrs younger and drove my 1st rust-bucket, I was very concious of others vehicles. My truck was rust colored with that lovely red primer and 40 yrs worth of body damage. I went out of my way to not hit other people.

I guess it's just a respect thing that people don't have. Even a little note that said Sorry would have taken the edge off. Besides, I spend entirely too much money of my own to just drive with abandon. You'd think people would be carefull with their own investment (car).

good point BennyHanna...a car isn't exactly an investment...but you're still taking about usually a few $$$ for any decent vehicle

I agree, its usually quite a bit of money. And don't get me wrong, I do take decent care of my vehicles. I've been in your position before, and I was upset. But in the end, its only a vehicle, they make new ones every day.

I guess its the way I was brought up. Respect your stuff, respect others stuff. But always remember its only stuff, when you're dead and gone its not your stuff that matters.

On a related note, a friend of mines neighbor would buy a brand new truck and hit the hood with a hammer before he even drove it off the lot. He said, after the first dent, the rest don't matter much. I'm sure he's dead by now, he was older than dirt.

How do you define investment? I guess if your a youngster (not that you are, I don't know) and can afford expensive material objects (which ultimately that's all they are Ferrari or F150) then I could understand your thinking, lack of appreciation. However, if you had to work for, let's say 20 plus years, to get your first brand new 30k+ vehicle then you may consider that an investment. I like to keep my "investments" in the best shape possible for as long as I own it, especially my house that I own, but that's just me.

BennyHanna, I understand what you are saying and I'll try to be more courteous.

Best,

John

Threads like this drive me crazy, because I try to go out of my way to keep my stuff nice and still people who don't give a rats a$$ ding up my stuff. I have already had mine Dent Wizard twice.
