Sagging headliner

My headliner seems to be sagging, are they supposed to be flat in the middle? Mine seems to hang low right where the dome light is attached. Also would this be considered "Wear and Tear", or would this be covered by the warranty? I do have a sunroof.

sagging headliner

It should be covered under the 3/36 bumper to bumper warranty unless you had done some damge to it.

Mine sagged. Didn't really bother me until I went over bumps and it banged up against the roof. The constant banging got very annoying so the dealer put what they called "spacers" between the headliner and the roof. Now it's tight, but sort of pushed down a little bit. Basically in the bottom sag position, but not flapping up and down making any more noise. I don't even notice it.

there is a TSB for this. my dad had it done to his truck.

TSB
05-14-2 HEADLINER BUFFETING/RATTLE NOISE - VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH ROOF-OPENING PANEL AND BUILT PRIOR TO 6/1/2005

Publication Date: June 29, 2005

FORD: 2004-2005 F-150
LINCOLN: 2006 Mark LT

This article supersedes TSB 05-9-6 to update the vehicle lines and add a note to the Service Procedure.

ISSUE:
Some 2004-2005 F-150 (excluding Heritage) and 2006 Lincoln Mark LT vehicles equipped with a roof opening panel and built before 6/1/2005, my exhibit a headliner buffeting or rattle type noise when going over bumps or closing any door with excessive force.

ACTION:
Install foam shims between the headliner foam blocks and the roof panel.

SERVICE PROCEDURE

NOTE: DO NOT REMOVE OR REPLACE THE HEADLINER WHILE PERFORMING THIS TSB. ALL REPAIRS ARE TO BE MADE WITH THE HEADLINER IN PLACE.

NOTE: THIS REPAIR WILL NOT ELIMINATE THE NORMAL WIND BUFFETING NOISE ASSOCIATED WITH AN OPEN SUNROOF, REAR WINDOW, OR BACK GLASS WHILE DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS.

Gently pull forward on the rear most section of the roof-opening panel trim.
NOTE: REMOVE ONLY ENOUGH OF THE ROOF-OPENING PANEL TRIM TO GAIN ACCESS BETWEEN THE HEADLINER AND THE ROOF PANEL.

Cut the foam shim into two (2) equal size pieces.
Carefully slide hand and forearm between the headliner and the roof panel. Locate the existing foam blocks on either side of the dome lamp, they are attached to the headliner assembly.

Thanks for the TSB, I have not had the noise, just the fact that it is sagging, so hopefully they can address the issue when I take it in next week.

Do you smoke? The smoke will degrade the glue allowing the fabric detach from the backing board.

No smoking ever allowed in my truck, but you are right, I see my moms car get all torn up from smoking. It seems to affect lots of stuff in the interior.
