Im just repeating what saleen told me and what the dealership told me.

Computer is 100% stock, as is the rest of the truck...except for a bedrug (maybe that is the problem). The dealer said there is no way for them to recalibrate the Saleen PowerFlash Performance computer. Only saleen can do that.

The dealer is, however, an authorized saleen dealer.

Seems to me 2 weeks is a bit excessive though. 30 min to get the PCM out, overnight to saleen, have them program it, overnight it back....3 days max.

No, no I wasnt questioning the information you have given to us. Im questioning if the dealer is being completly honest with you. Seems like 2 weeks is far too long. This should be top priority, overnight mail and 48 hour turn around from Saleen. I also question the fact it needs to even be sent back, the software can be updated by a portable tuning device. Since your truck is stock Saleen should have the new programming already on file and should even be able to e mail it to your dealer.

Thats what I was thinking also. I am new to saleen, but not to performance vehicles. Heck, I have an Xcal2 sitting at home that is going to be used to, eventually, tune this truck!

The S281 I had kept blowing spark plugs apart. I asked around and learned that the PCM calibration was screwed up, it'd pull fuel at WOT and lean out, blowing the plugs up. Since I was not an approved Saleen service center, Saleen wouldn't accept the PCM back so they could reprogram it, and they hung up on me. The nearest Saleen dealer is a couple hours away in Atlanta, so instead of working with me so we could get the customer squared away, they shut me out and pissed the owner of this car off. I think the guy took the car to Atlanta, got it fixed, and sold it.

I don't think very highly of Saleen nowadays.

Sounds very similar to the issue with my wheels. The authorized saleen dealer here in Atlanta cannot balance the 23" wheel. Saleen will not warranty the balancing any place else. Long story short, wheels came out of balance from the factory....and no one can balance them under warranty.

I agree. Three days max on the new calibration.

Most dealers around here have a Hunter GSP9700 for balancing. I thought it could handle those rims?

Good luck with it.

Will Discount Tire balance them? Ford/Saleen have an obligation to repair this vehicle while it is under the warranty period. The fact they don't have the tools necessary is hardly your fault or problem, although it seems they want you to think it is.

Like I said above...

If it didn't roll off the factory floor with it on, just consider it a "bolt-on"...

Heck, if any of you bolted on some Saleen parts, more power to you... because there is no such thing as a real Saleen F150 in my books.

The Ford F150 SVT Lightning on the other hand is a TRUE Ford Product. 100% Ford and built right off the assembly line.

The Saleen F150?! That's a freaking joke. Plus I think it looks silly.

The dealer you bought the truck at should step up and do the right thing. They should find a local shop that can balance your 23's and they should foot the bill for it, along with the replacement of the bad tire. They can fight with saleen to get reimbursed, it's not your problem.

As for the PCM, I agree, it should not take more than 3 days. But you are at their mercey, you just have to wait it out, however long it takes.

When you get it back after the PCM reflash, call up Justin at VMP and get a custom tune for your truck. Your close enough that you can take it to him for a dyno session and get the tune spot on.

If there is no real Saleen F150, then there is no real Saleen Mustang. What, in your mind makes it a "real" saleen? Or, is saleen just fake all the way around? Am I driving a serialized ghost truck? Wait, dont answer that because I am not driving one at all right now...haha.

Ford F150 SVT Lightning...a TRUE ford product...right with the heads the spit out spark plugs, crappy fitting body kit, rods that shoot through the block after 450 rwhp, a leaky intercooler in the 99-00 models, good ol recall on the cruise control electronics, and some junky interior. Yes, a TRUE Ford product indeed. You are talking to a former Lightning owner here.

You are entitled to your opinion regarding the Saleen F150 being a "joke" and looking silly. I am not going to refute that. It seems like the majority of the people that I encounter, whether it be online, or in person, beg to differ. This is not an attack on your opinion. I respect that.

No harm done. I respect your opinion to.

Maybe I was too harsh when I said it looks silly. I take that back.

However, what I am trying to refer to is the fact that for *example* the F150 Lightning was build and engineered for it's purpose. Heck, it's length of the wheel base is .1" shorter than the regular F150 reg cab/short bed, that was for a specific purpose as merely ID for car/truck collectors. Even the steering system was different, as well as the brake system. Right down to transmission and driveshaft.

A Saleen F150 is merely modified regular F150. The only things that have changed are suspension, F/I mod, injectors, ECU/PCM tuning, gauges, different rotors, calipers, and pads... and of course some styling... but after that's all said and done... at the end of the day what is it? A regular F150.

Sad to say, it's true.

Manual is just jealous that his F150 XL doesn't look as good, doesn't perform as good, etc.

Maybe they crashed your truck and havent told you yet. I'd go down to the dealer and make sure you can lay eyes on it. Sounds like they are trying to "put you off" for some reason. Perhaps they're hiding something?

No, I think he's stupid, not jealous.
