Replace wheel bearings?

Well my truck is STILL at 4wp, not entirely their fault. AAA took 5 hours to tow it. Well I called 4wp to check on everything and they said that abs sensor ring had to be replaced which I have another thread about. The tech also suggested that I change the wheel bearings. "Since the gears broke and there were pieces of metal floating around." I did some searching and I didnt' see anything about anyone replacing them. The truck has about 52,000 miles. They said it would probably be about $200 more... Should I do it?

That sounds awefully high for bearings when there is no additional labor. They are are at the bearings already.

But, I would change them.

I would buy the bearings and tell them you are supplying them.

I just called they are going to replace them. I called a dealer and they are charging $330 for the seals and beaings. The thing that helped me make the decision was that they would be covered under the 3/36 warranty I am getting.

Somewhere below the rainbow, I think you are getting shafted.

I may be getting shafted, but I don't have the time nor the skill in that area. Each shop is watching out for their own a$$. The gear place I had the truck at before had limited 1 year warranty. The limitation was whatever they said... 4wp said that they will warranty any damage no matter what to the gears, parts and labor for 3/36k. I was looking at the thread about changing the bearings and seals, most of the people who were doing it were right around ~50k miles. I am ~52k it was cheaper to do it now while it is open and it would fall under the 3/36k warranty as well. My grand total right now for genuine gears, the 2 abs parts, bearings, seals, and 3/36k warranty is $1380 At this point I just want it to be fixed.

That is what the dealer charges, 4wp is doing it for about $250.
