^^ exactly. Do you have the 5.4 ?

5.4 - the 9.75 rear end out back

All other engine models = 8.8" rear

FRONT (same on all trucks, regardless of engine) is an 8.8" IFS Reverse cut.

Also get a master install kit for both front AND rear.

oh yes i forgot to say it is a 5.4 and its only 2wd. i was gonna ask about the install kit, the guy at my local shop said i prob wouldnt need it because its a 06 so things wouldnt be worn. and i look at that site and it says the Master install kit is like 300 by itself, then the gears are 300+ ish this sound right?

Yes, the Yukon Master kit is something like $300 ($299 to be exact... saves ya a buck !)

Comes with all new seals, bearings and races, and just about anything ya need. I'd suggest going with it, since your already going to be in there, and it would help ensure your new gears will last awhile. You might be able to get away with the minor install kit, which is only new seals and what not, no bearings. That goes for around $80.

The R&P runs about $340, depending on which gear set you go with (company)

At what ratio is the carrier break on the 9.75? I know it is 3.92 on the 8.8, meaning a new carrier if you regear. Easily accomplished with a LS though.

I believe the 9.75 carrier change point is 4.56 . Not sure if 4.56 need's the new one, or is the last one that fits. I would think it'll fit, but I wouldn't quote me on that !

(I have an 8.8 ..... and really only deal with 8.8" or the famous and BEST 9" rear )

You could give the guys a call at Randy's Ring and Pinion. Very helpful and more then willing to give out some tips and advice !

I think the carrier break is at 4.30 If you go with 4.56's or 4.88's you will need a new carrier (or just add an LSD).

9.75" > 8.8"
