Chipped Paint Thanks to A Kid

Okay so today i backed into a parking spot at school next to my buddy and behind my truck is a "Grass parking lot" oh and with gravel so a kid tried to show of in a chevy truck spinning his tries and sprayed my buddies front end and my tail gate now i have chipped paint on the tailgate all over it. we ended up chasing down the dude (on foot) and then a cop rolled up before we could "thank" him hehe for screwing up our trucks. so i gave the cop my information and im planning on getting a estimate, i have to turn one in by thursday so that **** can pay for it.

BTW, how can this be fixed, paint the tailgate? and wont the rest of the truck look weird? man this sucks....
Edit: and my buddy has a busted up windshield (its a ford too)

repainting the tailgate is probably the best thing to get repainted because it doesnt butt up to many other painted surfaces so you most likely wont notice it, what color is it btw?

Dark Shadow, the nicks are deep, they dont look deep but when i run my finger across it they are, there are about 5 good ones, my father is telling me i need to get it fixed or it might rust. but if they paint the tailgate, just the tailgate it wont look different then the rest of the truck will it?

as long as you take it to a tru****l place, which you should since he is paying for it, then it should match but like i said the tailgate isnt as bad as a door would be because there isnt much paint right next to it to compare. but dsg is metalic and metallics can be a bit difficult to match

im debating on whether or not to get it fixed, there are scratches on the side of the truck from hunting so i dunno maybe i can live with some nicks. i dont really know any places to take it to maybe i will take it to ford just because i have had good service with them. i just dont want to go through all the pain to get it fixed nor do i have the time.

Regardless of which panel it is, a good shop will blend the adjoining panels and you should never know it has been painted. A good shop won't give you the "it won't match" song and dance. Most paint has many variables (different batches that came out a little different) and only a lazy shop gives up easily. My brother has a body shop and he has mixed several batches before he got it right.

DSG Trouble Too...

The driver's door on my screw got keyed at the A's game last week, about 10" long and deep through the paint layer . A shop I use gave me an estimate for ~$550.00 which includes blending into the passenger door.

Careless a$$holes who get their kicks out of ruining other people's property can burn in hell.

Get paid and decide later if you want to get the tailgate fixed. In anycase, this punk needs to learn a lesson.

Yes, the insurance company is going to give you a list of shops they do work with. Most times, these lists are very long and you'll probably see the shop you were going to use anyway.

Also, like others have said... a good shop will make the paint match, even to the extent that if the paint is faded, they will fade the fresh paint to make sure it matches.

Also, a tail-gate is an easy fix for a paint shop to do. Should only take one day.

Dont let it slide, you will regret it later. If you let it slide now he will do the same thing to somebody else's property.

I hate when people peel out in gravel parking lots... It's just so stupid.

I wouldn't worry too much about it matching, a good paint shop will fix it up, plus the tailgate doesn't have any curves or angles or anything to make the repair noticeable.

I had to get a new hood due to a recent hail storm. I also have dark shadow gray and they said they couldnt match it, so they blended it in. It looks the same as the rest of the truck.
