?? For Those with LED 3rd Brake Lights

Does the light now function with the tailights as well?

I installed a revotec 3rd brake light a few days ago, and I noticed that with the ignition or engine on at night with the headlights on, it lights up lightly like the tailights and then gets brighter when I apply the brakes...

Is this normal? I didn't notice before, but does the stock light do this as well?

Just curious if this is normal or not...

I have a Recon LED third brake light and it behave just like the stock one. It does not come on until I push on the brakes. It does not come on at all with the parking lights on, as the stock one didn't either.

Hope that helps!

Good luck!

Same goes for me. Mine works just like the OEM one did.

My Recon lights up dim with headlights. I guess it happens to me because every light on my truck but the headlights and dash/cluster is LED. I don't know, I will have to do some research on this.

It really doesn't bother me to have a third tailight, it still lights up a lot brighter when I hit the brakes...I am more just curious if this is normal or not.

It's just because the LED's are able to light up dimly with the low voltage that probably runs through the circuit all of the time. The more LED's you have in the brake light, the less likely it will be to light up. The stock light bulbs won't turn on at all with the slight voltage like the LED's will, which is why you don't see the problem with the stock housing.

The RECON may have more LED's than the Revotec, even one or two extra LED's can make the difference in whether the unit will light up or not.

Mine lights up also. Just the outside cargo lights. Whether the truck is running or not there is always a faint glow to those lights.

Just like your other thread.

I had the same problem with my LED 3rd and simply added a 100ohm resistor to and solved the problem.
