Question Ipod Help

i figured id get more responses in here.

i have a 2005 lariat with the audiophile. i want to keep it stock
i want to hook up my ipod directly to my factory 6 disc. i dont have Sat radio . it has an "aux" button. it doesnt say MP3 or 6 disc on the faceplate
but for some reason i think i have a weird radio part #
according to brandmotion.com's website my radio part # should be 5L3T for my 05
but my radio says 4L3T.
this could probably be why when i bought the peripheral brand ipod hookup it did not work a whiles back.

Can someone help, im ready to throw my FM transmitor out the window
all i want is to my ipod to be be CD quality while being able to control it from the ipod and also my steering wheel controls , while charging.

please point my in the right direction

Looks like you got the 04 audiophile system in yours. I have the same. No sattelite or MP3 capability in mine. I do have the overhead DVD player, though. What I did with mine was basically run a line from the overhead DVD player's RCA inputs to the cupholders in my flor through console. I just plug in my iPod using the headphone jack. You can use the Aux button that way if you have the overhead DVD. I hated the FM transmitter, too. Unfortunately, there are very few iPod accessories for our particular head unit. Other option is to buy the factory head unit that is MP3 and sattelite capable and swap your out.

All I can say is that yes, FM transmitters suck. I tried two or three of them before giving up.

First clue, yours does not have mp3 on it.
second clue, the 4L3T part#.

You have an 04 HU, 04's will not work with any ipod interface. You need to get an 05-up radio.

What I would like to know is, how did you get an 04 radio in your 05?

According to the Ford radio manual, no 2005 trucks left the factory with a 2004 Audiophile system. They did use 2004 AM/FM radios in the 2005. Buy the truck used?

The 2004 model year radios are not backward or forward compatible! You may want to upgrade to a newer unit. Both of these Audiophiles were used in the 2005 SCrew.

If you take an 08 or a used 07 out for a test drive, make sure you swing by radio hack and take a look at the antenna adapters (ford changed the antenna plug in 07, you can buy an adapter at radio hack, worst buy, circiut s***ty, etc).

After re-reading your first post, are you sure you have an audiophile? I thought all audiophile systems had the 6 disc changer, even the 04's. Since your deck does not have 6 disc printed on the front, it's probably just the plain single disc unit. A quick way to tell if you have an audiophile is they have tweeters in the front doors right by the inside handles, and they have a factory sub under the back seat that looks like this:

Also, on the back of the HU, the audiophile units have three plugs plus the antenna connector. The standard decks have only two plugs plus antenna.

I don't know if this is the same as the one you returned but it's what I'm running. Sound is way better than CD and I get to use my steering wheel buttons to control it.

Sounds like maybe someone added the Audiophile system to your truck. Have you thought of getting a P.I.E. adapter or do those not work on '04 HU's either?
