I agree. these people need to do a cost analysis of how much less it will take to drive the car than their truck. I was "thinking" about selling the truck for a car but came to this conclusion:

Truck: 16 mpg average
12,000 miles/year
$4/gal
Total cost = $3000/yr

Car (Honda Accord): 23 mpg average
Total cost = $2087/yr

Total savings are less than $1000. Trading in my truck now vs. 6 months ago = $3-$4k loss. If gas prices go back down I know I could get more than the $1k difference back on the trade. The are giving people nothing for trucks right now.

Add to that another 3 years of payments because I only have 2 years left on the truck.

What I find funny are the people who trade their truck when they are upside down. That is the dumbest thing in the world. My neighbor buys new trucks about every 2 years. He does not lease. He just has to have a new truck all of the time. He is probably paying $1000/mo for his current truck because he is financing the losses of his last 4 trucks.

Even with my truck only being worth $13-$14k I am still good. I only owe $7000 on it.

extremeethan,
Good luck getting $14k for your 2004. They will probably only offer you $11-$12k.

They buy a truck they can hardly afford with ridiculous interest rates and HUGE monthly payments, all so they can look cool. Then, if living paycheck to paycheck weren’t bad enough, they go out and put new wheels, tires, lifts, tuners, CAI’s….., on a credit card and further deepen the financial pit they will never climb out of.

Guess what? Gas has nearly doubled in the last couple of years. What do all the accessories to make them look cooler do for a vehicle that ALREADY gets very poor MPG? Yeah, do the math.

Oh well. Live and learn the hard way I suppose……

Because many on this site only read the first and last post.....

I wanna go fast !!

PS: RMS8 the OP didn't sell his truck because he couldn't afford it. I think he sold it because he didn't like it anymore and wanted it gone. Big difference.

How can you go from "I'm buying new rims and tires" to "I'm selling my truck" in a week.....

Reading the threads around here makes me understand why some people are left to retire with nothing more than Social Security.....

Yep, that is what I am doing. My truck is about to turn 2 years old and I just hit 10,000 miles!

First dont even talk money with my Im doing better in life at 21 then ill bet almost all of you were and am probably doing better then most at any age, let young pimpin brag a min, I owe 9k on my truck, My rate is probably lower then most here at 6%, ive got an 800+ credit score, My race truck is paid for(12k), and im 21 getting serious on a house BY MYSELF. Please dont try and talk like its cause I cant afford it my monthly payment is probably one of the lowest here. BTW Iv had my 401k going since I was 19 @ 12% of my income

Second I have a work truck so why do I need two trucks, and on top of my work truck my dad has a f350 PS that he only uses to pull his race trailer and if he is not racing Im more then welcome to use it.

Third I get 12.5 to 13.5 MPGs while my buddy with an altima gets 25 adv with 20's on it and driving like a dbag trying to show off.

I dont see the need to have this as a DD when its hard to get around town in and I have 2 trucks available to me when ever I need on and on HD one to tow my race truck with.

ExtremeE & Thump,

Please refer to :

"Not singling any one out, so don’t feel compelled to defend yourself, whoever you are"

I just wanted to post that in the next "I'm selling my truck" thread.

ExtemeE,

No one was questioning your financial stability, so no need to go into any details. On a side note, hats off to you for investing at such a young age!!!!!!!!

To be honest tho.......if you had so many trucks available, and just purchased wheels/tires w/in a week, why all of the sudden are you selling it? Actually you don't "owe" anyone any sort of explanation, but you did post in an open forum that you were selling your ride, so expect lots of varied comments and questions.

I'm one of the more fortunate ones here when it came to purchasing my truck (short of paying cash up front!!!!). I got 0% for 72 months. Together with my paid off 2000 Lariat as trade and the X-plan, my monthly payment is $300. gas really sucks right now, and I'm not going to lull myself into thinking it will "eventually" come down. That's what many thought as the price was creeping closer to $3/gallon a few years ago.

I just "assume" it will go higher and plan accordingly.

my monthly payment is 280 @ 60 month loan, as for the wheels and tires i looked at getting a smaller truck but decided the fuel saving wasnt worth it for the lack of room and power so I got wheels and tires to mix my truck up and make it feel "new" agin then my buddy got his altima and i fell in love started looking at them and relized how much I could save in gas and what I though in payment tell I found what they would give me. my payment will stay the same but Ill easily save 200 a month in fuel and have something to park when we go out, on mill ave where we go on the weekends there is no where to park my truck at all its too big for small downtown tempe so my buddys always have to drive. Im just ready for something smaller to drive day to day, maybe not even gas just easier to drive and park

The tires are Nitto terra grapplers, 325/65/18s brand new less then a week of driving, and the wheels are procomps I cant find the model number now but they are the same as pimprohr's in black. Both are less then a week old and out the door I paid $1950 Pm me for more info or to make me an offer, I need them gone Im selling it with my old wheels and tires. All of this will help offset the new car/truck loss haha

My interest rate is lower, 5.85%. 725 FICO. So :P

No seriously, good luck on the Altima. They're solid cars for sure. They comprise 21% of Nissan's sales volume.

I read that but in this case why did you feel so compelled to post what you did? Unless it was truly directed at the OP ... The OP has been posting things for the past months about how much he doesn't like his truck anymore and how he was trying to change it up to like it again but I'm guessing that didn't work out for him.
