I took Krylons advise and only cleaned it. I will have to strip and repaint it soon. I can tell the fusion is not sticking. The can says it stick to hard to adhere surfaces. Not true.

 

I think what I am going to end up doing is lightly sand off the chrome plastic part and see if it shows up as black and then do the whole thing, AND finally paint it with a few coats.

I noticed today you can pretty much use your fingernail and scratch the paint off. maybe over time it will stick better, but im not betting on it.
