Adding Power Tailgate To STX Question

Right now I haven't added the power windows and locks to my truck but I'm about to. Heres my question... Since my truck didn't come from the factory with power locks I'm not sure if I'm supposed to run the wires from the tailgates acuator to my cab and splice them into my aftermarket locks? Because I've on forums where your supposed to run them to your factory lock wires but I doubt I have them. Any advice?

If you don't have power locks you'll need an actuator in each door running to a controller, i.e. power lock module or alarm. For the gate, you should be able to do the same thing and run the wires into the cab and splice into the door actuators. I actually have never thought about that, but it really is a smart idea. I hate having to walk around my truck to lock the gate. It's fairly inconvenient.

You'll also need to think about sealing the actuator out from the elements.

Thanks for the info but I knew that. lol. Should I hook the wire up to the module or should I splice the acuator wire?

Either really. It would be easiest to tie into the door lock wires in one of the kick panels.
