Lag Shifting on an 08' FX4

I thought I saw a thread on this a while ago but could not find it...

My new 08' has been hanging the shift between I belive 2nd and 3rd gear. Its right at 26-28 mph....it kinda revs up a few hundred before shifting.

Anyone know what I am talking about? Any info would be appreciated!!

Thanks

My 2007 seems to do that sometimes during light acceleration city traffic driving around 25-28 MPH, not all the time, just sometimes? A remedy I use is to push in the OD off button on the end of the shifter in heavy city type driving, that takes care of the problemo.....& the tranny shifts more smoothly also, during that type of driving also!............

Time for Custom Tuning! It fixes everything, and adds 40-50+ HP.

Really as mentioned this is just the Ford pcm calibration. They seemed to be going for "won't spill your coffee smooth" shifts instead of the firmer shifts a truck should come with

There is a TSB for this now. They reprogram the PCM.

There is a TSB and a fix for this problem

I just took my truck in last week for this very problem, 2007 FX4, engine revs up at light throttle shift, between 25-30 miles per hour. It is actually 3-4 gear.

Anyway, they verified and fixed it, it is TSB 08-08-11, which is as follows:

Ford: 2007-2008 F-150

5.4L 3V/4R75E Only, Built after 12/4/2006 - Engine RPM Flare during 3-4 upshift under light throttle only. This would occur at road speed ranges from 25-30 mph. No DTC's or other drivability or transmission issues would be present.

Action
Reprogram the PCM to the latest calibration using IDS release 54.5 and higher.

Runs like a champ now, no more slipping. The tough part is getting them to verify it, as this is the second time I took it to the dealer. Becuase it is intermittent, it is hard to get it to slip on cue!

I had what I assume is a similar TSB performed on my 2004 5.4 FX4. They reprogrammed the PCM, but I really didn't notice much of a difference.

My solution... I bought an Edge Evolution and run it on the stock level 2 setting (regular gas, changed shift points, changed timing). This was a huge improvement on the shifting... when you are cruising at city speeds and give it some gas it downshifts like I'd expect it to... rather than struggling in a high gear.
