Yet another 4x4 Block removal question

Alright, I just ordered my 2wd std duty u bolts for the rear of my 2004 f150 supercrew 4x4. I was wondering about the two nuts on top of the leaf spring. Do they have to be removed? Some people did not mention this when they took their blocks out and some did?

Thanks

I just swapped out the factory 1.5" blocks with some AS 3" blocks on my 08 FX4. All I had to do was unbolt the U-bolts, lift the truck up high enough to pull the factory block out and put the new 3" block in and install the new longer U-bolts. No need to remove any other nuts/bolts. I think those nuts/bolts you are talking about hold the spring pack together so you would not remove them for a block install. If AAL install, then yes, those would be removed to separate the spring pack.

The spring perch over the axle tubes have two holes in them that the bolts in the spring pack line up with.

1. park truck on flat level ground.
2. block front wheels in front and back of tire.
3. place truck in neutral
4. crawl under rear of truck and remove all 8 u-bolt nuts, 2 spring plates, 4 u-bolts
5. jack up truck on one side under rear of cab, remove 2" block.
6. slowly lower truck just until spring touches spring perch on axle tube.
7. rock tire back and forth until spring bolts drop into holes in perch (that's why the truck is in neutral)
8. repeat steps 5,6,7 on other side
9. install 4 shorter u-bolts, original plates, original nuts, torque to 90 ft/lbs

have a you're done
