Correct you are my friend!!! They installed a torsion spring to assist in the lifting of them.

I am trying to find a pic at the moment. Stand by...

I've had my gate off plenty of times. It's not very heavy.

Go pick up a chevy or dodge gate... much more cumbersome. Not that I like that better. Just making a point.

Are you sure it is the door? My rear seat belt latch rattles against the rear door unless I tuck the seatbelt latch between the upper seat cusion and the side panel. It was so annoying in the beginning when I couldn't figure out what was rattling back there.

I know with mine I am positive it's the latch. It makes the same sound, just not as bad.

Door rattle

Add me to the "door is not closed all the way club" I experienced this from the beginning on my '04. I spent 30+ years in body work so I know fitting doors. I have owned a 95,99,02 and now the '04- all SC's except the 95. The doors fit different on the '04 up than any of the others. Actually they were fit very well on mine and I suspicion on most of the other '04 up SC's as well. They do require closing differently though than the earlier ones. Place your hand on the center of the door (rear) and simply close FIRMLY with follow through. You don't have to SLAM the door, just follow through firmly WITHOUT REMOVING your hand. To double check, place your one hand on the center of the door with moderate pressure and lightly pull the release handle with your other hand. If you hear the release of the latch and it is still latched on the second catch, you were closed, if that opens the door, you were only on the first catch and therefore not closed. I have tried to train my wife how to close properly and once in a while she still doesn't get it latched all the way and I can tell immediately because of faint additional noise. A lifetime of adjusting doors tells me that 99% of the door adjustment problems are not adjustment problems at all (on the '04 up SC's), but simply proper closing. Hopes this helps someone out there

Mine did the same thing. When i fully closed the rear doors they had a very small amount of play. I took off the shroud around the d loop and lossened the bolts in the d loop. There isn't any kind of adjustment at all. So i tightened everything up and took a piece of 2x4 and a 3lb. hammer and smacked the end of the d loop and voilah!!!.... they are as tight as a vigin!

Guess we know where he got his name from

I'd be a little nervous about doing that so I may take the electric tape idea and run with it. no possible damage in that.

maybe you can put some electrical tape on it and dig it out of your latch every couple of weeks.

I would guess that you have never been in a body shop before?
Not everything has an adjustment screw or adjustment slots to make it sooooo easy, some things take a little coaxing to make it fit just right.
Besides its not like i said that i take a 25# sledge and take a running start!

tried taking a sledge to it, doesn't do much for me. I have a supercrew so my doors may be different than yours but it is still a d-ring. I have about 1/4" play, no matter how I shut it. I tried the electrical tape thing too, but it's only going to last a week if that as it chews up the tape with every close. It also kinda sticks to the door when you try to open it so it has this sticky feel when you open the door. If you use less tape it does nothing to remedy the issue...
