Question New Gears - How much did you pay for ring and pinion swap

Posted in powertrain forum and here, on vacation week of 4/14 and want to get installed then.

Finally decided on 4.56's. Can't find 4.30's for front. Been shopping around, the stang shop I was going to use never did a 4x4, I hate to be the first for this. Prices seem to be in the $1600-$2200 range. Seems kind of high. Truck has 49k miles. Some quotes include full install kits, some partial. 9.75 rear, 8.8 front. Swapping 3.73's for 4.56's. What was your total - parts, labor? thanks

Thanks for info guys.

rpm's at 80mph are about 2000 now with 3.73's. ( should be buying a radar detector instead - not having good luck with speeding tickets this year ). I'll may raise truck another inch or two next year when I need new tires and put 35's and black rims on so going to regear it first. Felt a performance hit going from the stock tires to these 33.6" tires, the efans helped, but I want it all back plus some. I may just stay with 33's if I like the off line launch.

i got a quote of 1000 bucks out the door for 4.56's front and rear, sounds too cheap thought. i called the ford garage and they want 3 hrs labor to do the rear and 2 hrs to do the front if i bring the housing in. is it true that you gotta drop the whole front diff to change the gears? even with a 6" lift? also what axles do we have ? (my truck is 07 screw 4x4 5.4)

I've spent about $1500 on my 4 x 2 because I've had it done twice as I wasn't happy with the first install.

My *** still hurts....

I had 33's with 4.56's for about a year and I loved how it felt driving the truck. The throttle response was awesome and the truck felt like I didn't have the lift and the heavier tires. Your going to love the combo.
