i bought an 05 STX with the 4.6 and sold it private party this passed february. i paid 18,000 brand new with 60 miles on it and got tired of the lack of power and the amount of servicing that was being done on it. when i sold it private party i got 15,000 for it 2 years later with exactly 36,000 miles on it. the dealer only wanted to give me 9,500 for it trade in on a brand new 08 with a 5.4L XLT. i only owed 11,000 on the truck so i ended up paying off the truck and put a 4,000 dollar down payment on my new truck. i ended up getting lower payments on my brand new 08 built from the factory than my old 05. if you can get it to work out like i did then i would say its well worth it. the new truck that i ordered is far better then my old STX.. ill make a post on it when i recieve it... lets put it this way.. in stock trim, there isnt another one like it within a 900 miles radius of gainesville FL.

Yeah I know if I do trade in there is going to be a loss. I am just trying to get an estimate of how large that loss will be, so again I can weigh my options.

take the price of a brand new 08 truck that has the same options...now take $5k off that price (depreciation from driving off the lot)...figure $2-3k for 1yr model depreciation....you can probably expect a $8-9k hit minimum

if you can get $25k for trade-in and you paid close to $30-32k...that's pretty good. I know my truck dropped over $5k in value just from me driving it off the lot. right now, I can expect about $22k trade-in, but my truck can retail here in Hawaii for about $30k. pisses me off, but nothing I can do about it.

at least the market here artificially bumps vehicle prices...so I can hopefully come out even if I dump my truck for a 09 model

I walked away with a full loaded NEW 08 fx4 except for running boards and a moon roof for $28,900. That was ordered by me too, not off the lot.

Your going to take a big hit. I vote you will get it for trade in around $15,000-17,000 if it is in excellent like new condition
