Coming off?? Man those look perfect. Had you not mentioned that it was done by yourself, I would have thought it was factory.

Tell me this though. Did you use a gun or a brush? And how much did painting the rims cost??

I just painted my wheels this weekend, I masked off the area I wanted to paint then applied aircraft remover and let it sit for a few minutes, this removed the factory clear coat from the wheel, then I used steel wool to lightly scuff the surface. I was then left with bar metal, after pressure washing I used 3 coats of Duplicolor primer and 3 coats of the wheels paint. Wheels look great, I hope they last a while.

Hey Cavermatt,
Did you clear the entire rim or just what you painted? I masked mine off, sanded REAL well, 3 coats of rim paint and 3 coats of hi-temp clear and let them dry before I removed the masking tape. If I touch the edge where the original clear and new paint meet, they start to flake just a little........

Does anybody else have that or did I mess up somehow?

What did you do about the wheel weights? I guess they'll need to be painted black anyway, but I don't want there to be an unpainted spot underneath if they're moved, and it seems like it would damage the paint to have them taken off then put back on after painting.
