Lightbulb Heated !!!

As I type this I am nursing a sore ankle and knee. If you are listening FORD, you should find a way to heat the step bars on these trucks. We had a very light ice rain the other day it lasted all of 15 or 20 minutes then turned to rain, but the truck was still iced over, I started it, turned on the heat and let it warm up. When I was exiting the truck at work, my foot slipped off the icy step bar flipping me out of the truck onto my *** on the wet ground. This would have never happened if the steps could some how be heated at the same time the truck is warming up... JUST A THOUGHT.

This is one of the most ridiculous request/complaints I've ever heard for things Ford needs to add. You knew it was icy, be careful.......

I'm sure we get less ice here in Dallas, Tx. than he does there and I still know that it's slippery when you step on it

it was a friggin joke, ha friggin ha, course i knew it was slick.................... I have a plan, I'll run my side pipes behind the steps and cure this problem. And I have been in just a little bit of snow. I grew up in Michigan and was stationed in up state N.Y. while in the ARMY.

With some of the silly options and aftermarket stuff out there, this isn't really a bad idea. I live in Seattle now, and was raised in Boston and Philly. Trust me on this, frozen step bars are a serious issue. They now have options like keyless starters, heated/ventilated seats, adjustable pedals, power folding mirrors, easy lift tailgates, etc. This idea isn't that far fetched.

maybe I'm not as dumb as some of you think I am, ( that from tennessee comment ) wasn't very funny. Request yes it could be looked into. Valid I dont know. I'm not a rocket scientist but this couldn't be that damn hard to do.

It could be possible that Ford and just about every single other auto maker out there who uses step bars figures drivers would know when it's icy, and if it is, that's why you have that nifty little driver and passenger side A-pillar hand grabs, so you can hold on when getting in and out...

those are great for getting in, your facing them and naturally grab and pull, but on the way out they're behind you. It really doesn't matter at this point. Do you suppose heated outside mirrors were for safety and do you also suppose that rear window defrosters are for safety, well if so this is a safety matter as well. ^^ Oh Sh*t Handles.

heated steps why not

well, i really dont find it that far fetched either. I used to work for a company that made tubed heaters, which could produce variable rates of heat on variable rates of voltage, you could heat something as sensitive as a winshield wiper, or a deisel engine in a dozer, and when i left them they had heaters in the works for concrete. yup thats right 12" thick concrete can now be heated up to 65 degrees currently being tested in the mountains of idaho and washington state, highways. so next time you are driving through pay attention to the slow lane(granny lane) and look for 12"-18" cuts on each side of the path of travel lanes (tire grid on the highway) thats whats those are! it was a great idea, just wish i could of come up with it! wish i was smart enough to come up with the idea for this fix of heated steps, i could make a bunch of money!

they have aftermarket heat sources for the handlebars of motorcycles...why not a larger version to fit inside the step? shouldn't be hard to do.....
