Paint them whatever color you want, that would be the most cost effective method that I could think of

Does anyone have close up shots of the glossy and the matte? I didn't know they changed them in 05.

Parts Color

Years back I used to work for a place that made plastic and vinyl interior parts for the Big 3. At that time everything was very temperature sensative in the manufacturing or you could have color shift occur in the final product. The solution for color shift happening at that time was to paint the parts with something similar in function to what's used now days on the vinyl covered bumpers to match the vehicle. It was next to impossible to tell a painted vs a non-painted part till you used something abrasive or a strong chemical that loosened or disolved the paint. Once that happened, you had whatever color was under the paint, no way to put it back.

Far as I know this still goes on so your change in color might be due to cutting through a paint covering.

Just FYI so you know it could happen.

glossy:

matte:

on the glossy you can see reflections on it like it were a window and on the matter well it's just there

and I read some of you were talking about tape rap maybe you guys should try this type out it's 4"x25ft and you guys should get the black chrome metallic color and just cut it out and put on there.. besides it's less then $15 dollars shipped so it wouldn't hurt to try

here's a photo of it but it's way wider then these you can notice the white reflections on it

When you tint the windows nice and dark, the glossy pillars look killer. Mine came with them as it is a 2004.

I personally wouldnt want gloss ones. I have a hard enuf time telling my friends to shut the door by touching the flat black pillars otherwise they leave greasy fingerprints all over my door.

It might be cheaper to have the matte finish painted.

I paid $168 shipped. The above price is what they cost in 05

How to link from Hotlap
Drew, or anyone else. When you replaced the B-Pillars how did you remove the window trim. Or better yet how is it attached. I don't want to just start prying it up and break a clip or something. Thanks!

Can't say I've had the same experience as you, my B Pillars are still like new, 04 FX4 and it's never seen the inside of a garage, But I do apply wax to them.

I never noticed this change on these trucks. But having seen those comparison pics, you guys are right, that does look like crap.
