If you lost 1st gear, but have 2nd, 3rd and OD, it sounds like your tranny may be toast. Maybe the dealer will work with you alittle bit since you are under 36000 miles, even thought you are over 3 years.
I guess this falls under the catagory, you have to pay to play.

I feel for ya, I was out digging in a 3' snow drift last week when my reverse went out. Only 42,000 well maintained miles. Ended up replacing all the clutch plates and few other odds and ends. Picked her up this morning from the local stealership with a 12,000 mile/12 month warranty for $1654. Good luck.
