07 f-150 battery problem

Well to my disappointment Friday I walked out to my truck to find it DEAD. So dead in fact I couldn't even get the truck to shift so I could push it out of my garage to jump it. Anyway went to Autozone today and got a Duralast battery. The truck has 24k on it with the original Motorcraft battery. Let me tell you their were no warning signs either. The last time I drove my truck was Tuesday afternoon. So within 3 days it was dead, I was kind of shocked because of all things I didn't think I would be replacing a battery already.

I just hope the Best Buy tech who installed my Sat radio/ Deck didn't connect to a constant power source and that is draining my battery. I guess I will know in a few days.

Since I needed the battery right away and since Ford isn't open on Sunday will they do anything for me if they bench test the battery and find out it is bad?

Anyway installed the battery and started right up and I verified that nothing was left on. Sorry to vent, just a little shocked I needed a battery so soon.

Sal

I had the same thing happen 2 weeks ago to my truck, took it in, the dealer replaced the battery under warranty.

Since you replaced the battery on your own, I doubt Ford will do anything for you. You can try, it's worth a shot.

I've had this happened to me 5-6 times on my 05 Screw, I am now on my third battery which went completely dead last week. No after market stuff on or in my truck either. Thankfully my lease ends at the end of this month, so I don't have to deal with this anymore. It seems to do it when it get cold out. I had it tested when it was still under warranty and they couldn't find anything wrong with it. I wonder if the cold is causing a relay or some sort to stick open.

Mine has done it as well, 07 here, died on me now at least 5 or 6 times. The dealer tells me nothing is wrong but they noticed wires hooked up to the battery and that is probably the problem. The wire, notice I said wire, is hooked to the relay for the HID kit, that onlys draws current when the headlights are switched on.

My truck was built in September 2003 and the battery has never been down at all. My Escape was built in October 2000 and the original battery is still going strong. My truck does have the larger battery because it has the towing package.

I woke up to a dead battery about 1 month ago. Only think that ws left on was the radar detector that was plugged in. It was so weird that a radar detector would drain the battery down to nothing. Anyway trucks been starting fine since then,

Doubt it - other than replacing your dead battery. Take it in and let them charge/test it. If it fails, they will give you a replacement at least. Better than having a dead battery sitting around.

They tested mine and it tested good. They went ahead and replaced it anyway.

Well this morning went out to start the truck and fired right up. Ford says they will prorate/warranty a battery if they find it defective. Problem is I really have no need for a spare battery sitting around. Anyway hopefully this battery lasts. The Duralast I bought is an 84 month 3 year free replacement, it is there top line battery.

Makes me glad I own a manual... nothing like a good old push start.

Motorcraft = Duralast = Autocraft = Johnson Controls

Just so you Know. Not really an upgrade.
