Homelink & Compass Question

I have a 2004 F-150 with a factory installed Homelink on the visor. I had an XM Inno installed in my truck. The Homelink was working fine prior to installation. About 3 weeks later (after using the garage remote control) I tried to reprogram my Homelink and the Homelink visor lights no longer flash so I can begin to reprogram. I see no reference to a fuse in my manual. I am told there is a module that might need to be replaced. Replacing a module is covered under extended warranty but a lesser problem is probably not. Ford customer service and the Homelink folks are no help since I have no flashing light. Any ideas to try to fix it before taking it to the shop?

I also have a factory compass attached to my rearview mirror. It has stopped registering the direction and I know have two hash marks to take the place of the direction. This replacement is not covered under extended warranty. Any ideas to try to fix except replacement?
