Another Drivetrain Question......

Alright fellas, another quick question.........

Do our transmissions have a fail safe feature? Reason I ask is that As I'm driving, it seems that the more I accelerate she will go go go then all of a sudden give me a feeling as if I've hit a sand bar (Held back in other words). Although RPM's stay up as normal, but almost as if the truck can't go anymore. It still accelerates just real slow.

That's why I ask maybe my tranny doesn't wanna push more because I could damage it.

The tranny is practically new so I don't think IT could be the problem. Help me out fellas I'm running out of warranty and need to take her in ASAP!

It is known as a governor, and it is there because your tires may not be speed rated (LT tire) for one reason. If you do a search, you will find lots of info, including how to turn it of, not necessarily the best move.

On your edge bump up all the shift points by 3mph.

I dont know if I understand the description. Does the motor fall on its face? Such as you hit a certain RPM and it doesnt pull anymore? Or do you get another sensation?

IMO the 5.4 has a decent mid range but no low and nothing on the top end either. My truck is one of the most acceleration challenged models built and I understand that.

Its really too expensive to justify, but one of the mustang mags shows a set of cams that lose nothing on the bottom end, but pick up some nice numbers as the tach climbs. This was for a 4.6 3v, but should be similar results for your 5.4.
