Need opinion.

The truck is getting painted all black as we speak. The mirrors and door handles as well. Buying an Fx2 valence and putting it on too. The bed caps are going to stick out like a sore thumb. Rolling Rock said he could return them to their original color, but it would still be the only thing plastic left on the truck. I dont want to get the factory ones painted because it would be too big of a pain in the ***. I like the street scene smooth bed caps, but not really diggin the up pointing deal on the rear that goes on top of the tail gate itself. A toneau is not really an option because I use the truck as a truck too much and dont want to screw with it. Is there any other options? Heres a link to the street sceners. And im stealing one of Black3v's pictures because its what my truck will look like except my whole mirrors will be painted. Thanks for any opinions!

hum....the street scenes seem like a good option, especially if you dont want a toneau cover. Ive been poking around thinkin about a toneau cover especially after getting back to lubbock, the lockable storage would be nice and i dont see myself using the bed that terribly much while down there...ive never seen the ss caps in person or a pic up close, not real sure about there quality but i was less than impressed with my ss flares, thats why i sent them back...

they probably wouldnt stick out too bad, especially after seeing black3v's pic...

yea I guess we will see. my truck is just now all starting to come together and its exciting to see. now i just have to decide on a black 22 with a chrome lip that I like. I think I like these but cant decide. The link at the top isnt working so here is another one. We decided against the wing I am going to sand the cap on top of the tail gate and paint it. I just need some caps for the side now because theyd be a pain in the *** to paint

just word of advice, sand that tailgate cover like hell. I sanded/prepped my mirror caps for paint and i thought i had all the texture out and you can still see small traces of it now that its all said and done. I couldnt even see it until the primer went on, and I spent a fair amount of time sanding those things....

**A-HEM** Get a fiberglass tonneau and don't worry about the bedcaps.

Hey maybe you could set me up with your painter so I can get my front end repainted and maybe some racing stripes painted

The SS caps should be direct replacements for the factory caps the spoiler in the picture is for the tailgate only not the bed sides. I had a Truckin magazine back in 04 that had a lowered and raised SS trucks with the bed caps and they look good... if only they made them for the 5.5 bed then I would be a happy camper.

yea man shoot me a pm and I would be more than happy to hook you up. He does GREAT work and is really reasonably priced. I decided on the SS two side caps then I am going to sand the one on the bed and paint it as well. He is charging me $40 bucks to do all three! and 60 to do my new fx2 valance

Since we're talking paint here....... Would it be possible to get my chrome bumpers painted and have it last? Would the prep to paint them be much different than a PTM bumper? Also, what does an FX2 valance sell for?

Yes you can actually. I have a buddy getting it done as we speak. First off I would really really really have to trust the shop doing it. The shop that we go to the body guys are extremely good. What you would have to do is have your chrome bumpers sand blasted. And then from there you would prep them and have them painted. It looks really good when finished, I will get some pics when I go to Waco of the finished product on his truck. It's all about the paint shop though man. The finish of the bumper is going to be synonomous(sp?) with the skill of the painter.
