jerking in the driveline?

I have an 04 screw 2wd with the 5.4 and 31XXX miles, I am taking it to the dealer next week because I am having a problem with the engine or belt howling when it gets cold out and have searched on here and found out that it is most likely the alternator.

While I was returning home from work last night I was on the interstate and had the cruise set at 65, while coasting down a long hill I felt a jerking in the driveline 3 times, it almost felt like something was grabbing in the tranny or it was trying to downshift and not getting into gear. I am going to watch for this untill I take it in next week but was wondering if anyone else has had this issue?

Ok, I had this happen again last night on 2 occasions. It only happens with the cruise control on and when going down a very long hill. It feels like the tranny is trying to down shift to keep the truck from coasting too fast. Does anyone have this issue?

yeah your truck is trying to keep itself at the speed you set. i think all vehicles do this and it should not be a problem. mine does the same thing.

well this is the first I have had this happen since I bought the truck in april '07. I can feel this jerking in the floorboard and even in the seats.
