Sub boxes

Trying to do a little research on sub boxes for my 07 screw. I really would like a stealthbox but don't want to pay $600 for it so I'm looking at other options. Who else makes a well fitting sub box? I'd like to use 1 JL 10w3 but I think the mounting depth (5.93) and enclosure size (.65 cuft) are too much for anything I have found so far, so I'm thinking about going with 2 JL 10w1s. Please add to the list below any manufactures not on the list that makes a box for my truck. And if you have any experience with them please not if they are any good. I've done some forum searching and things are so scattered.

1. supercrewsound.com
2. Q-logic
3. JL Stealthbox
4. Probox
5. Music Moose I heard their fit and finish was not so good
6. MTX Not a fan of MTX

I bought from this guy on Ebay, and got a 12" Kicker CVR and 350 watt RMS Kicker Amp, and Wiring kit and it was all good quality and sounds awesome. He also just sells box's, I was very impressed with mine. Fit great and very sturdy.

Not affiliated with the guy or anything, just bought a box from him recently.

I got my box from Supercrew sound and couldn't be happier!. Good price and good product. I was also going to go with a JL Stealthbox, but I did not want to shell out the $600 to $700 that most places wanted for it.

My box was only $100 from some place on ebay. The seller is hifisoundconnection, maybe with an s, can't recall. It sounds great and it holds one MTX Thunder 10" sub. The quality and fit are great.

I made the little end piece to cover up the amp.

I have the MTX thunder box. I bought it unloaded for $100 on sounddomain before they got rid of their online store. I put a JL12w1-8 in it that I had laying around. It sounds great. I have 500w rms at 4ohms or approx 250w at 8ohms going to it. The MTX box is very solid doesn't appear to have any flexing what so ever. Without going custom, it's the only way of getting a 12" sub that I know of.

Another option is finding a local high-end car audio shop, and have them build you a custom box. That's what I did. I went to Audio Shoppe in Riverside, Ca. They specialize in high-end vehicles (Porshe, Ferrari, etc). But they also do work for the "average Joe". They are all about SQ (sound quality), and don't even go near the "boom" factor. They also do some work on the Overhaulin' TV show.

Anyway, they built me a custom reinforced fiberglass box that fits nicely under my rear seat, but still allowed me to keep my jack there. It houses two 8" Image Dynamic subs. The box is down-firing, but they designed it so that the subs don't mount exactly parallel to the floor. They have a mild tilt towards the back. So, instead of the subs firing directly into the floor, they fire into a little bit of open space... Sounds amazing!

Oh yeah, IIRC they charged about $250 to build the box.

i agree, a custom box is the BEST option. Have a box made that will match your subwoofers perfectly. A sub is only as good as the enclosure it is in.

my current enclosure is the musicmoose box, dont get it. no clearance for excursion. i have a custom box on order and cant wait to replace my current setup.

If you are looking for a 12" box, supercrewsound has 2 new models that I worked with Mark on.

Can anybody give me a review of the supercrewsound.com single 10" box with the extra 5/8" mounting depth? Does the seat go all the way down? I'm thinking I might be able to fit the JL 10w3 in there.

I have the single 10" with the 5/8. It fits fine, I have to give it a little push to get the latch handle to go down but I think having it tight reduces the possiblity of rattles.

I'm running a jl 10w3, its probably not enough space for that much sub but I had it sitting around. Only complaint I have about the sound is that it gets a little hollow with the real deep stuff but at 80 hrz its really loud. I'm pushing it with a Rockford 800.2.

Me too. Bought a loaded 10 inch box. Its an AE box. Sounds good, heavy and good quality. Came loaded with a JBL woofer for $155 shipped to my door. Quick shipping positive feedback all the way around. I wanted a basic setup and it exceeded my expectations. Hits harder than expected. I am using an old old Sony XM250 which is about 120 RMS bridged at 4 ohms. More than I need. An 8 or a pair of 8s would be plenty IMHO.
