.. only when you're running a "stock" tune, I believe.

No, the unit can be unplugged and removed when running any of the 4 tunes. You just need to return the truck to stock if you are going to hook up the unit to any other truck. You don't have to keep the monitor hooked at any time other than when you are doing a program change.

No, I understand that. I meant when you customize any tunes, you must leave the unit hooked up otherwise it reverts back to the "stock" programming that Edge has set-up for each of their level of tunes. If this information is wrong than thank your people at Edge.

Are you talking about the custom settings, like adjusting shift pressure? I have never tried it, but it is my understanding that whatever you have loaded into your truck will stay there when you unplug the unit. I hope I undrstand what you are saying. I can't imagine that unplugging will cause the trucks computer to change the program.

It does not matter if you take the gauge out. Once you load a program to the truck the pod is only connected for monitoring purposes. I have unhooked mine while driving down the road. It doesn't matter. The truck's PCM stores the program once it's loaded and doesn't talk to the EDGE again untill you tell it to from the EDGE when your re-programing.

Thats what I thought, but thats what the people at Edge told me.

Another great reason why I don't recommend Edge.

I had a strange problem with mine on Monday. I refueled the truck and after that I pulled out of the gas stall and into the parking lot to redo the Edge Config. I wanted to bump the timing back down. The first time I do it I forget to select custom. So I wait for it to finish and then go back to stock again. Then Back to level 2 customizing the settings. While all this is going on my lights are on and the radio is on. When the Edge finishes I go to start my truck and boom dead battery. The whole process was around 10 minutes but it was 20 degrees. Then thank goodness one of my buddies was getting gas and was able to jump my truck. After I start the truck the Edge comes on and all I see is the backlight with no display. I dont want to turn off the truck so I get to my destination shut off the truck and the Edge will not go off. Unplug the edge and restart the truck and all is good.
Sorry for the long post.

They have some retards there, I just really don't believe that is correct. Some day when I have time to mess with it, I will unplug it and see. Surely the manual would warn you of that.
