Vibration When Accelerating from Stop
I was experiencing the same shudder during acceleration from a stop while turning at the same time. Since I was heading to the stealership to get new tires (57k-mi), I decided to ask about the TSB 06-4-4.
Depending on the size of the differential (8, 9 or 10") you would be paying about $1000-1200 for replacement. My service manager knew of the issue these trucks were having and recommended that I try the "friction modifier" alternative ($35) because may owners were seeing an impact with that. So, I added the service to my list and even though I was told it would take about 200mi to work itself in, I have not felt a shudder since I picked up my truck. I hope that this option will last long so I don't have to replace the clutch pack.

Vibration on Turn
I am having the same problem with vibration upon acceleration and it is accentuated when trailing. I had all the rear fluids checked and they are all serviced and and in working order with the proper fluids. That already cost $250. It did noting for the vibration. Now they are telling me that I need "Electronic Steering Gear" that the message on the warning sensor (AutoTrac Service" and a message for a "Steering angle sensor" requires that this "electronic steering gear" needs replacement. they say the part alone is $1300 and there is no guarantee that it will fix the problem. Looking at spending $2000 on something that may or may not fix it. Anyone ever see this fixing the problem or had those warnings? I would hate to replace that expensive of a part with no assurance that it will address the problem. Thank you RD
What year is your truck? What is the code on the door for the diff? If it has traction lock and you are getting this vibration accelerating around turns, they may not have put the friction modifier in the rear diff when they changed the lube.
Rick, you need to start a new thread in the correct forum instead of hijacking a 13 year old thread. This thread is in the 2004-2008 forum, and if you have electric steering you don't have a 2004-2008.
2011 and thank you they checked that and replaced the fluids and friction fluid and it didn't address the problem. I am beginning to think it may be the Clutch mechanisms as talked about in some of the other comments. Thoughts?
sorry 84k miles. I am out of town and don’t have access to truck till wed. I’ll log back in then but thank you.
