Yea, so my window has been stuck down in the door twice and the ford dealership blamed it on me both times because i installed custom door handles right....well now my truck isn't under warranty and it's starting to stick but if i let off the switch and hit it again it will usually go up... bad regulator or switch?

I wish the f150's had the same powerful power windows as the f250's have...my buddy has 1% tint on his f250 and his windows fly down...the cops never have a chance to see his tint.

I had the same problem in an 05 Supercrew. I replaced switches, reg. assemblies, no luck. Dealership found a broken ground in the wire loom!

My 2004 Lariat super crew lost it's window assembly today. I would like you all to know that this is, yes indeed, my 5th yes 5th window assembly. Ford did not design these correctly. There will never be a recall because this is not a safety issue. Also I almost forgot, my electric rear window went bad 3 years ago. I do not even use the windows that often. I have not had any other problems with this truck. It is like I have a $300 window fee every year... Thanks Ford for putting in cheap window for a $35,000 top of the line truck.

I believe one of the major aftermarket parts and hardware manufacturers sells a window regulator for our trucks with a LIFETIME WARRANTY. I don't think it's that expensive either. Either do a search or someone will chime in with who makes it. Believe it can be purchased at either Autozone or Advanced Auto.

I recently replaced the drivers side on my 05 scab. I had the truck for a week and "pop"! Luckily it didn't bust the glass seeing how it came screaming down from the top. Bad design indeed. Wires didn't break, just the tabs as mentioned. I'm going to see if I can fix the old one...??

Dorman is the manufacturer. They are cheaper than the dealer OEM.

I have replaced 2 of 4. Pisses me off that not only do I have to replace the regulator, but the damn tint on the window also as it gets scratched all to hell.

I have replaced both fronts on my 05, but got lucky on the tint.

IMO changing it out was not bad but I see some of y'all have done it like 5or 6 times...that's total BS in my book. The last Ford truck I had was an 82 step side so I've been outta the loop for a while. Anyways, it's been 2 weeks since I changed mine...I have not been running it up or down till it slams closed or open. I'm thinking it might be to much strain on the feeble parts its built with...and just maybe not running up or down to the limits might help.???

Got a 2005 replaced the driver side last year, passenger this year.
POS design.

Yep, on my third, just ordered a Dorman. The last two were ford parts. So sucks...By the way I lube the rails with white grease before if finish the job. THey run dry, but I figure the least resistance the better.

My drivers window squeaks when I run it up and down. (Somewhat embarrassing). After reading your post, maybe I will remove the door panel and grease the tracks with white grease.
Didn't think of that

the other thing is silicone the rubber seals to make them more pliable to the window glass.

Already thought of trying that. I didnt because I was concerned of oily streaks on the glass when its up.

lenore 07-20-2012 08:59 AM

just spray the seals and let set than wipe with a dry rag. I have had no streaks whatsoever. do this with window down.

Take the door panel off and spray the two white pulleys at the bottom of the track. My 05 driver back door squealed all the time. After spraying the pulleys and cycling the window a few times it is very quiet now.
