Im really surprised by everyone singing the praises of K & N filters. They dont filter dirt as well as the factory filter does.

My 99 GMC Sierra came with one of those. It would move somewhat but I never really waited for it to read dirty or replace filter because I would replace the filter according to the owners manual. I think it worked but I never waited long enough for it to read dirty filter.

How long did it take before it moved?

Well... I bought one, just for kicks... nothing reallly special about it.

I spent like 10 minutes playing around with it. It seems pretty sensitive to the slightest difference in pressure, because I sucked on it, and it seemed to work well. It looks like the filter really would need to be clogged to get to the clogged portion. But who knows until I try it out.

Now to find the 11/16" drill bit... might have to go to Lowes later... it's an odd size. Or else I'm not looking hard enough... haha

Anyhow, here's a pic:

Well, after searching around for a 11/16" drill bit, I found one at Home Depot.

So I come home, and I take the airbox apart... only to find out that there is no way to do it. Because there is like an inner cylinder inside of the airbox... So I'm looking, and looking... and like duh... right in front of me there is like a black circular piece of rubber on the actual intake. It actually looks like it is designed for one of these.

So I took the intake off, and I brought it inside, and I got a 3/8" drill bit, and I drilled a hole in the center of the circle. I cleaned it up, and pushed the FilterMinder in the hole. Worked like a charm, and it is nice and tight. What is ironic, is how well it fit it... almost like Ford was going to put one there from the factory, but decided not to due to cost constraints or something.

Anyhow, it looks VERY good. Useful?! I dunno... I started the truck and drove it around, and came back... the indicator did move a little bit, but not much... so I know it's working.

Here are some pictures:

Round black circle on intake hose...

After being drilled with a 3/8" drill, I stuck it in the hole...

Reattched hose to intake and Positive Crankcase Ventilation valve...

Here is a shot further away...

Enjoy!
