door switch - location?

Ok, so i am thinking about adding some lights underneath the side of the truck that turn on when someone opens up the driver or passenger side front door. It could help people see the step up bar a little better, and i think it would look cool. Anyways, does anyone know where the factory switch is that turns on the interior lights when you open the door? The one that works like the switches in a refridgerator. I am thinking about just using it instead of adding another one.

Thanks

The switch is built into the door latch. IIRC, LF + is BK/YL and RF+ is BK/PK.

so, would you think i have to take apart the door to get to the switch to add a few wires to it?

Yes, you have to remove the door panel, then remove the latch. The switch is held into the latch with a couple tabs.

dang....i was hoping it would not involve all of that.
Well then, anyone have an idea of how i can do this...there doesnt look like there is much space to mount a switch.

i might have to just abandon this idea.

You don't have to abandon the idea, just hit the interior light circuit and your added lights will come on no matter what door is opened, it just won't be side specific. I put two down-facing white led's in each side mirror and hooked them to the dome light circuit, I like it!

Exactly. Also those wires come out of the door at some point. You can get the signal from the kick panel easily.
