I think what most people mean by interior and exterior of the door is if you take the door panel off, you can put the fatmat on the "exterior" of the door like I did in the pic. Then you can roll up the window and put your hand through the big holes in the door and put it on the actual door.

most of the fatmat is on the exterior of the door. If you look through the big gap I only put one square on the interior of the door because I ran out.

its the same as all the other stock "leather" interior. Im pretty sure its vinyl though.
