Does anyone know why I am barely breaking 60mph and my RPMs are at 2,000?

I'm not a "heavy footed" driver by any means. Not big on speed...hence the reason I have a truck. I did think of buying a crotch rocket (45mpg), but that's not in the budget for right now with a wedding in 10 months. I'm definately putting the levling kit on and the 35's (priorities first!!!) cause it's ALWAYS been what I've wanted to do. I do need to check the pressure in my stocks tires right now though...that could be way off. I think i'll do the K&N air filter but definlatey don't have the cash to re-gear the truck. How much is the cold air intake going to run me? Hopefully I can clear 14mpg like the sticker said I would 4 years ago!

Hmmm could be a combination of things. Tire size or gear ratio? Unless you have a HD 7 lug you don't have 4.10's stock. Most probable is 3.73 maybe you just have small tires..

If you are looking for fuel economy on these trucks, the best you can do is feather the gas pedal, launch lightly from stop, coast as much as possible to the stop light (when it's red) or basically have no fun with the truck while driving. The only other way you can achieve fuel economy is to run downhill with a strong tailwind.

Let's face it, the F150 stuck down the gasoline. They aren't known for sipping gasoline. My averages are 12-16 mpg in the city and 16-19 mpg on the highway. Stop and go kills the fuel economy and so does a strong headwind.

Here are some tips from STP.

http://www.stp.com/gastips.html

For you experts out there, is it a good idea to put a bottle of this in there every now and then? I'm not going to do it with every fill-up like they suggest. But I have 67,000 miles and have never put a bottle in. Just wondering, because I have been thinking about it.

What happened to Fords hydraulic power assist thing? Builds pressure when you brake and releases when you gas. http://media.ford.com/newsroom/relea...art_ids=0&bn=1

I get roughly 13-16 city... it kills my gas mileage...

I like my 1st gear with my 4.10s... but those stupid white lines don't like me. All I do is sit there and spin on them when they are wet and even sometimes dry if I punch the gas on the line.

Edge tuner did it for me

I used to get about the same mileage as you (12mpg) until I bought the Edge tuner, now I am getting about 14-15 mpg. I also have a drop in K&N and using Castrol Syntech oil w/ K&N oil filter.
Doing the math...it shows that these mods have don it for me.
Good Luck
