Im not sure if you were aware, but my past 4x4 trucks that I have had, I was told I need to make sure and put it into 4x4 at least once a month just to make sure the 4x4 is not locking up from no usage...

Let me know on the outcome from the dealer, and how much was the premiumcare warrenty??

I recently had to take mine in for warrenty work on the 4x4. It was a bad electric motor on the transfer case @ 31000 miles. My 4x4 light wouldn't even light up or engage so I would lean towards it being something different on your end. Good luck

My money is on the electric shift motor for the transfer case. Somewhat of a popular problem on 04+ newer trucks.

Or a vacuum leak up in the system. Also, when you engage you will feel it and hear it. Don;t switch to 4x4 and nail it until you hear the subtle clunk. Then go crazy.

might have got some snow or ice inside the vacuum lines or in the IWE solenoid.

Loss of vacuum engages the front hubs.

4x4 not engaging

I experienced the same issue just the other day. No 4 wheel drive and no indicator light. Got home pulled all the fuses that had to do with the 4 wheel drive system, put them back in and 4 wheel seems to work fine now. And no there were no blown fuses.

From what he described, it sounds like his transfer case is engaging, because his light comes on. His hubs are not engaging, possibly from moisture in the IWE solenoid or frozen hubs. If the Solenoid is frozen, it will not dump the vacumm and the hubs will not engage.

How do you know for sure

that neither front wheel had any power applied?

Remember, even in 4WD only one front wheel and one rear wheel gets any power.

Yes

In 2WD only one rear wheel gets any power, in 4WD only one front wheel and one rear wheel... unless you have lockers or limited slip.
