CircuitCity Remote Start Installation Question

I tried to have the DEI Python 1400XP installed today at CC. I was told that I needed a remote module (556U) to bypass the PAT system (possibly the wrong remote module?). I understand what is required and why it is required, but the installers could not get it to work correctly. Here's what happens. My extra key is put into the module. A wire from the module is wrapped around the ignition where the key is inserted. With everything put back together, the remote start works as it should. When the key in put in and turned to the run position, the truck stays running. With the truck not running, the key will not start the truck. When the wire from the remote module is pulled from the ignition coil, the key will start the truck. CC told me I had to go to the dealer and get both keys programmed to the same code. This seems odd. I believe the module should not send a signal to the ignition when a remote start is not requested. I am assuming that I am getting a constant signal from the module and when I put the other key in the ignition, somehow the 2 signals are goofing something up. Any thoughts?

This sounds odd... maybe they have a defective unit?! Did you ask them to try another unit?

I was thinking that also. I have found other info that suggests remote module 555F. Possibly that module works differently than the 556U. I don't know.

Keysense wire not hooked up. I believe its a violet wire and I know its a (-) trigger. Your CCity installer is stupid. Thats a given and he should know that issue.

X2! I just had a Viper 791 system installed and I have no issues! I love my remote start. I'm not knocking CC, but most of the time, their installers are not that great. I went with a dedicated auto stereo place here in Va. They do awesome custom work and they did a super job on my install. I had them do the motion sensor, battery backup, etc... Anyway, I hope you get yours resolved asap!

You have to be careful. I am an installer at CC as well and a bunch of those guys are morons. LOW E ride was correct. But also I think you got the wrong bypass unit. I used the 555u in my truck when I hooked up the viper and remote start. I've never even heard of the 556
