35 inch spare and jacks

What are you guys doing about spares as well as a jack to lift your lifted truck. I just got home from a road trip and was thinking what would I do if I had gotten a flat. Are there any comparable sized 35 for a 17 inch stock wheel as well as I though I read about someone putting a 35 in the stock tire carrier?

35x12.50 WILL fit a stock 17" wheel... Just not ideal for the width. Most tire MFGs want at least an 8" wide wheel...

As far as the jack goes. With my leveling kit, and 33s, that is a problem. I am looking at a Hi Lift Jack. Gotta do something...

high lift jacks are great. its a worthwhile purchase. you can pick one up for around $75. or get a generic one from TSC for around 50. just make sure you get the bumper lift. they are great for jacks as well as a recovery tool

the tire i would just mount in the bed. but i think you can mount it under the bed as well

good luck!

I really dont trust my bumper to lift my truck haha it is a ford.... how do you lift the front with one? Also does anyone know if it will fit the stock spare mount, the 35 on 17 inch wheel? I was thinking of a light weight jack in the bed but need to come up with some kind of tie down.

Here's what I did. Mounted a Hi-Lift in the bed, put some big ol' jackstands in the toolbox, and got the bumper and wheel adapter. Havn't had the guts to try the bumper adapter. If I needed I think I'd rather use the tow hooks or reciever.

Here's the liftmate

and the bumper mount

Is it just me or how do you lift on the tire you need to change? Will that bumper mount work on our front bumpers or just the rear and can we really lift our trucks by the rear bumper, its just seems so weak and thin metal

Edit I didnt read about the jack stands

As far as the spare, you will be fine with the stock size tire to get you to the next gas station, road, etc. I had 35s on my last truck and had one come off the wheel while offroad. Threw the spare on and it did just fine at slow speeds on and off road. Try and go to fast on the pavement and it truck will shake pretty good.

when I was putting my lift on we were short on jacks. My buddy used his hi lift to lift the back end of my truck up. Granted he didnt pick up the axle because we were putting the blocks in, but it couldn't be enough weight to bend the bumper.

I usually just pray, or keep my AAA card handy.

If the flat is on the front. Do that on the rear and see what happens to your LSD.

That's what I was thinking. That if your flat is on the rear you're supposed to move a front tire back there and put the smaller spare up front.

Exactly or just spend $50 and call the flat bed!

I dont know where you live but a flatbed call out is NOT 50$ here. Also when we were headed up to the races we didnt leave tell 8 30 and it was raining, that go me thinking what I would do on an empty road (like we were) in the middle of nowhere and cell phone would come in and out. Does anyone know about the 35 fitting in the spare holder???

Here in DC, 50 bucks will just pay for them going out and opening the cab of the tow truck.
