Yeah, but still cheaper than getting Ford to do it for me, and then I have a new tool too!

 

After comparing those plugs and mine, I think those have been changed or atleast pulled before. Or different gas. Those are no where near what my 89k plugs looked like, grime wise. I mean the aerokil or whatever cleaned alot off Im sure, but still they used it on mine too and it wasnt even close to that. Mine looked like they had rusted to heck and back.

Either way, man Im glad it worked for ya and didnt cost what mine did.

On a high note, my cost went from 1200 to 1030 Ricart called and said hey are sending me back 170 for overcharging me... Like 1200 wasnt overcharged lol.

Glad it worked, but I really think they are not the origs. or had been pulled and cleaned.

hmm after looking at the rotunda tool im pretty sure i could make it, seems simple enough, just a sleeve that fits in the hole and the rod goes through that and into the plug after you threaded it and then you just tighten the nut on top

thats the great thing about having a lathe, you can make your own tools....now i just need a mill and im set on tools

 

Why didn't you go for the GOR15LGS Brisk plugs? Maybe they are for the Legacy 2004?

I am a little confused on this Brisk stuff. What are LSG Brisk Halo plugs? Is this another company?

 

Good job! This proves what I've been saying for awhile now, if you follow the TSB and your patient, this job can be done successfully.

 

I just installed my Brisk 3vr14s plugs this week when I got the SC back from Steigmeier. Troyer was telling me you can run the 3vr14s plugs if you are running the aftermarket high output cops. I gaped mine at 34 and they were all around 20 out of the box. They sem to be running pretty good but I may have another COP going out on me.

risupercrewman...unfortunately the Autolites are the exact same design as the Motocraps. They have the same crimped-on shield. I changed mine out about 5,000 miles (and 3 months) ago...at 47,000 on the clock. I elected to install Autolites due to availability. No problems, but I don't know how long the Autolites are good for. But to me, installing a 20,000 mile plug is pointless. Either the M/C's or A/L's should be good for at least 45,000, if not 60,000...and if you've already coated them with Ni anti-sieze, the next change should go well.

I messed up the video. Unfortunately, I had what I thought was the entire passenger side video taped, but I had apparently turned it off when i wanted it on, and vice versa. I had a lot of video of me hunched over the truck, but none of the pull. I didn't attempt to video any of the drivers side, b/c I thought I got all of the passenger side.... ugh....

 

No worries. Glad it all worked out for you! Gives me faith to try it myself when it comes time. Just short of 50K myself. Think I'll wait to 100K also.

 

Holy tight plugs Batman! After viewing that video, I'm gonna pull my original plugs around the 50K mileage, & apply the anti-seize! That should not be at least for another few years, so hopefully FORD will have something done by then regarding this matter!............

 

Don't count on it. With the '09 models around the bend and likely a new head design, Ford's going to rely on the aftermarket to develop the solutions.

 

You do know that you are supposed to turn them lose 1/8-1/4 then spray them and wait right?
