My opinion on this subject:

If you are going to install the remote start yourself, you should call Travis at KCAutosound and order the kit through him. He will prewire it for you and give you detailed instructions on Installation. I did it and it came out great. I advise only using code alarm since they are the only company that i know of that allows you to keep use of your keypad on you door.

good luck!

For you guys that have done the install yourself.....did you use T-taps to make the connections or did you solder. What is supplied with the kit from kcautosound for making the wire connections....if anything?

I spliced into the main wire then made a hole with a screwdriver and stuck the other wire through it, twisted and taped.

This is how Travis recommends doing it: Strip back about 1/2" of insulation off the target wire and split the individual stands of wires in half. Feed the splicing wire in between the strands and twist the new wire around the main wire pulling the strands back together. Then secure with some quality electrical tape. Hope that's understandable.

For those of you who didn't order from KCAutosound, how difficult is it to install the remote starter without his instructions and prewiring?

I ordered from another site that offered directions too. Unless you know what wires you're looking for you are boned. I can't remember how many connections it ended up being, something like 25, there was no way I could have found them all without a cheat sheet. The instructions that come with an alarm will only tell you what their color wire does, not what to connect it to in your truck. There are lots of places you can find wiring diagrams for your truck online though, you'll just need to do the matching up on your own.
