So I've been eye-balling a new truck lately and it seems (at least around my area) the dealers get a spattering of random trucks with the black background headlight in them. I think most of the time they are in the FX4, but there seems to be no trend attaching it to a particular color/truck combo. The salesmen don't know crap.

Obviously, not listed as an option on the "build your own" function on the ford site. I've seen a few members here with them. Did you change them out or were you one of the lucky ones??

If I did get a new truck, I would be compelled to make this part of the deal since obviously you can get them as stock at no additional cost...the ones that did have them also had no mention of the headlights on the sticker, nor any cost for such.

So is it really completely random??

 

I just bought a new truck last week and ya some of the new 2008 FX4`s have painted door handles and blacked out head lights. Looks good. But mine is a left over 2007 so it does not have those cool goodies. Oh well. Chit happens

 

I believe the blacked out headlamps was standard and only available on the FX4 & FX2 for '07. That feature has been carried over to '08.

 

The only black headlight option I had was which set to buy aftermarket.

 

thought the blackout headlights was with the FX2? The rest of the world can just buy them as aftermarket upgrades.

 

Black is a harley only option but now grey is standard on the fx4/fx2 or you could just buy a set of hella's or ebay leakers

 

Well, you need to call and tell that to the guys that assembled some of the trucks around here cause they didn't get the memo!! Just this week I looked at two black '07 FX4's sitting side by side on a lot. Same interior, options, everthing. One had black headlights and the painted door handles, the other did not. Not a single person at the dumbership could answer or find out why.

You can't say it's a Harley only option anyways cause that's not right...it's not an option on a Harley, it's standard equipment on that truck. And it's not an option on any other truck, thus unable to find an answer why some have it and some don't.

Sal FX4, what are you trying to say?? That headlight description in the "FX4 Luxury Package" you have listed is not the headlights in the above photo of ramnjs truck....or at least I don't think so.

 

I think that the painted door handles, painted grille, and dark headlights are just part of the FX4 luxury package, like Sal had posted. Which I believe ramnj's truck is.

 

It has the luxury package. On the window sticker, under FX4 Luxury Package, it has:

ramnj has the FX4 luxury package, a $995 option on the sticker. everything i listed is in the dealer source book as well as online when you price and build under options, click on the "Details" link while in the Ford price and build section and you will see. Your earlier posts says its not there, when i read that, i went straight to the website (and My eSource book) and typed everything for you.

 

I just bought an 08 limited and it comes on them as part of the package

 

yes they (the dark gray headlamp surrounds)come with the lux pack on fx4 only....easy way to tell lux pack on fx4 is painted door handles or not....flat black plastic, then reg fx4....all fx2 come with the dark headlamps too....harleys have glossy black headlamp surrounds....yes the limited has them too, i think the limited uses the dark flat grey from the fx4.
