Don't hold your breath on this one..... All they need to do is come up with a one piece plug design like the Brisk Plug, & give it a Platnum tip, & install them on all effected motors...........see what they come uo with........

If Ford does develop a new plug for those 5.4's what they'll likely do is wait until they come in for service and swap 'em out at that point. I don't ever see a recall happening because it's not a safety issue.

I've had my plugs changed during cam phaser warranty work at 34 K but still worry the second change on my Nickle at 100 K or more. While Ford is at it maybe they can find the answer to the ball bearing on the floor.

Tbird If ford does make a new plug And i bring it in for a oil change or have a 15000 mile service done Do you think the service adviser would say HEY WE ARE GOING TO REPLACE YOUR PLUGS BECAUSE THERE IS A NEW PLUG THAT WILL SOLVE THE PROBLEM I dont think it will happen

The service advisor wouldn't even know about that. They just pass the vehicle to the mechanic based on what they're told.

I bet there is an eventual recall later in time. As for now, take care of your plugs so they don't break.

Yes, I hope they (ford) do as well. I'll use Shell as well and hope for the best. I've had a set of plugs changed at around 22,000 miles under a TSB for spark knock, and they came out fine, no ungodly creaking, no nasty deposits on the sleeves. I truly believe brand of gas combined with driving style habits have a lot to do with the deposits that lead to breakage.

Maybe MGDfan can tell us...he seems to know all about it. Maybe there's a tool that can make it work!
