Stupid Inspections!!!!

I need help!!! I just moved to Virginia and my truck failed inspection! They said the tires can not touch anywhere and mine rub at full lock. I have the OEM 20's, 325/60/20 BFG KO's, and a 2" AS (pics in sig). They will not allow spacers either (just to get it through inspection).

My options are new tires $1200 (285/65/20 BFG KO's)

New wheels $1300 (different offset or back spacing and use the 325's). Will this work or cause rubbing in other places?

What should I do?

Thanks for your help,

Nebraska

Find someone else with an F150 and swap wheels/tires for a day.

Hell, if you lived closer I'd let you borrow my stockers.

Or just pick up a cheap pair of take off stockers and keep 'em just for inspection.

Does that generation truck have wheel stops that can be adjusted?

Where in Virginia? I took mine to a station here in NoVA and they didn't even check that. VA does have some pretty crazy inspection/emissions rules. How much time do you have to get re-inspected...isn't it 2 weeks? I'll be happy to loan you my stockers next weekend.

I loved getting inspected back home in MS. It only cost 5 bucks as late as 7 years ago, and you could always "pass" inspection.

If not, I still have my stock tires (20's) for sale for 300 bucks. Virginia isn't that far from KY so frieght shouldn't be too bad. They only have 400 miles on them.

I was just about to send you a PM about this tires thinking it included the factory wheels.. Then I remember that you are running those Copper tires on the OEM wheels and looks bad a@@. I was to get the same tire and wheel combo for my truck.

I went to get my truck inspected today and I had to set the Edge Evolution back to factory...and the inspector said the system knows you messed with your PCM. He said you'll have to leave it at factory for a couple of days or 50 to 100 miles and then come on back, to try again.

Nytehawk,

PM Sent!!!

Thanks you everyone for your help!! I also have to replace a upper ball joint due to it being loose (not from the AS, but a VERY LARGE pot hole!!!!). I orderd them from Ford parts for $74 each. I still have my SC plates on it until the end of this month, so time is running short!

Would aftermarket wheels cause more rubbing?

I have lived in Virginia all of my 60 years and have been getting inspection stickers since they were fifty cents every six months. I have never had an inspection station check for rubbing at full turn. You either got an inspector that didn't like you, one who has been recently caught doing something wrong by the state police or one who just got out of sticker school. Since nearly every dealership and independent garage gives stickers as well as many service stations, scrape off the rejection sticker and try another. I don't know where you are in Virginia but the worst seem to be in Northern Virginia and other metropolitan areas. I would scrape off the rejection sticker really good and go to a small independent shop outside of town.

I had a cousin who lived in Northern Virginia that got rejected for worn suspension parts. He scraped the rejection sticker off and went to another garage and was rejected again for worn suspension parts. However, the worn suspension parts were different at each garage. He took the car to a third garage and got a sticker. He drove the car for years and the car passed inspection several other times. There was nothing wrong with the suspension but he looked like an easy payday to the first two garages.
