Door Protector

Does anyone have the molding that goes on the side of the doors? To protect the edge of the door from potential rubbing? Lots of the lightning guys use this kind of stuff to chrome out their stock billet grills... I'd want black of course

I had the small ones that came with my truck when i purchased it. Never really liked it so i took it off. And since im very careful with my truck i dont think ill be chipping paint off from there anyway. You can buy em at most auto parts stores in chrome and black.

Yeah I went to autozone today and they had the crappy kind that stick on with 3m... I had some nice ones on my old expy that wrapped around the edge of the door. Today someone parked so close to my truck I had no choice but to rub the door... and I paid for it. Scuffed off about 1/2 inch of paint . I live in an apartment complex at my college and these ******** I live with can't park, nor do they care about other people's property... my side view mirrors are large and someone didn't want to go around, so they just forced my mirror to fold the wrong way as they shoved past my truck .

I think I would opening up a can of whoopass if they did that to my truck. It sounds like you need to install a lift and some gig tires and some nerf bars.

I just replaced my door edge protector last night. I got mine from Pep Boys, for about $15 for 25'. It's the "U" shaped protector that wraps around the door edge. I put it on when I first bought my truck in 2005, but over the course of the last 2.5 years, it faded and hardened a little, so I replaced it with new. For me, having kids and all, it really helps to preven those little paint chips when you accidentally rub against the car next to you. And, IMO, it adds a bit of appeal to the looks of the truck.

Yeah If I ever caught them in the act I definitely would. My roommate drives a 2003 Avalanche and his side mirrors are really large too and the same thing happens to him... he has power folding mirrors tho.. I have to manually close mine lol. I also own an FX2 so I'm going to be dropping it in the future... I'll just have to pray that nothing else bad happens to my truck!

bamorris2,

I had to look several times before I could make out your door guards in the pics you posted.

Nice and surreptitious.

Door edge guards were the 1st thing I installed on my 2007 Supercrew, I like the chrome ones, & got the factory ones from FORD.......they just tapped in & installed easily...........
