New gears!

I am dropping off my truck today to have the 3.55 gears swapped out to 4.10s, I've been saving up for a while. Using Ford racing gears and its gonna cost about $1500 installed for both front and rear, I guess this is a pretty fair price.

My tires are 33" so I am hoping to get my rpms back into a power range, especially on the interstate (I only turn 1700 rpm at 70mph, no torque). Anyways, do you think it's going to make a good difference, is it money well spent? I still think a supercharger will be my next investment, but that's a year away or so, you know $$$

I would have gone steeper on the gears but if you truly are getting a s/c you made the right choice.

That's odd, my truck came with factory 20's and a 32.1 tall tire stock. I went to 33's with my 3:55LSD and at 70 I am right around 1840rpms and have plenty of power. I am actually hitting the rollers next tuesday to see what she lays down. I am told it's a factory freak truck because I can also turn the 33's for about 35' or so before she shifts into second and boggs down. As for power, I felt little to no difference with the tire size.

i cant decide if i am going to get 4.10's when i get my s/c. i do alot of highway driving and i think it would be really annoying especially with my exhaust setup to run at close to 3k rpms for 5+ hours

Yes, that's for front and rear. The cost of the gears and the install kits is $800, just for the parts.

This is a tough job, not one for a novice, and this guy does a lot of them, only bad thing is he's a big GM guy, does a lot of speed work on GTOs and Camaros. But I trust his work.

I guess my only concern is ending up at an RPM during insterstate where my exhaust drones a little. Its a Magnaflow catback and not real loud, but I know sometimes it resonates a little. I am looking forward to the difference in seat of pants feel.

LOL.. Thats probably for one because that barely covers the cost of the parts and no labors.

Excellent. Like them just as well as the TOYO's M/T I had prior on my last truck.

Im also doing the 3:55 swap into either 4:10's or 4:30's. Does anyone know what would be better. Im going to be running 33"x12.5"x20 ToyoMT's. I want my truck to be a little quicker with my new wheel and tire setup, but I dont want the gas mileage to kill my wallet. Also I figure the 4:10's come on the Super Duty's so I'm sure they would be good on my 4.6 F150. Any suggestions?
