2007 FX4 with Painted Grille and Handles?
I have been looking at new 2007 FX4s and I noticed some of them have color matching painted grilles, door handles and gray light surrounds, while others do not. I cannot seem to see a difference in the window stickers, so I was wondering if anyone knows if this was an option later in the model year.
I really like the color matching trim, so I prefer a truck with them, but when looking on line, there does not seem to be an easy way to tell. I have access to unlimited Carfax reports, so if MFG dates is the way to tell, at least I will have something to give me an idea.
Thanks,
KR-Texas (Soon to be FX4-Texas)

O4Lariat,
OK Great, that will be easy to tell!!!! (What is the EATC???)
The other item I noticed over the weekend was one with the FX4 Luxury package did not have the on-board message center. It had three blank switches where my KR has the buttons. Is this an option that is included with some other package? I have become used to looking at my average MPGs while driving on long trips to help me keep my speed down.
Thanks,

That's all you get three fake black buttons, Only the Lariat, King Ranch, Harley, and the Lariat Limited have the message center. I know it sucks when I use my FX4 for long trips I wish I knew how many miles to E. Oh well just filler up. Oh and on the top of the cluster you get that stiching like the lariats. Go for the FX4 Luxury, I love mine.

yes it was a late option...i think the lux pack came in jan/feb on the 2007 year model....eact is auto temp control...lux pack on fx4 is about 1/2 step from lariat....they have painted door handles lariat do not, lariats have painted fender flares fx4 lux do not...lariat has message center...for the fender flares the darker colors like black dont look bad, but white or blue silver...the non painted fender flares but the painted door pulls just doesnt look right...i am sure they are left unpainted for the off roading chipping the paint on them, but the lariat that are not two toned and painted flares look great...oh yeah the fx4 lux has painted bumpers that match the body also, not sure if reg fx4 has the painted bumpers

One of the last Dark Gray 2007 FX4s in my area has the FX4 Luxury package and the Power Fold mirrors. (My wife loves the heated leather seats) It also has trailer tow, audiophile, reverse sensors, power sliding rear window and 20" wheels. It is the closest thing to my KR that I can find, except for the silly message center. (sigh..)
With all of the end of model year rebates, I can get it for $30,500 if I buy it before the end of the month.
Now, I can quit looking for one with a message center.
Thanks,

I'd get the FX4 Luxury over a Lariat. They're usually cheaper and the only true difference is the Message Center. Besides, the FX4 rides better than a XLT or Lariat (different shocks).

The ride quality is arguable at best. I think the Lariats ride better than the FX4 do in stock form but that doesn't make your and my opinion right or wrong. It's just preference.

thanks for the correction. I was 50/50 on believing that about the headers.
For me, the Lariat is mushy in the corners whereas the FX4 has less body roll and for lack of a better term, it's stiffer. But, if you look at the GT in my sig pic, you can see what I consider a rough ride. My FX4 is like riding on a cloud compared to that thing

the 2007 lux and 2006 lux (did not know they made one) are not equal
the 2007 has painted door pulls, leather, and split front buckets with flow through center console, power fold mirrors, heated seats, painted mirror caps, painted h bar grille, dark grey headlights like fx2 (like harley but flat not shinny)...plus more i am sure i left out...when my friend picked his up in april, all the car salesmen where still sitting in the car. i gave him a ride to pick it u the day it arrived...all those clowns were climing all in it. it was the first lux pack black ext with black leather they had ever seen, yes this was a large dealership they had over 300 f150's on the lot when his arrived, it was ordered in feb 2007
