2008 Limited back up camera

I saw a limited at the dealership and the backup camera was built into the handle in the tailgate. Does anyone know if this is an aftermarket part or where we can get it.

This is an "a la carte" factory option on the new model year. I don't think it is included in any package but you can add it in lieu of (or in addition to, I think) the reverse sensors. I ordered it on mine for help with trailer hook-up. I'll post feedback on it as soon as my truck arrives and I've had a chance to use it. By the way, the viewer is built into the rear view mirror and is invisible except when you put the tranny in reverse.

Yep, you're right. Looks like you can get both the camera and the reverse sensors.

No, you do not need the navigation for this option. The view is displayed up on the rear view mirror.
I played with one at work here and it's pretty neat.
Although the size of the display is small IMO. A aftermarket unit would of course be a bigger display.

I wonder how the tailgate can be removed if there are wires attached to it? I take mine off quite often. There's like a 5-7 wire loom going from the body to the gate.

Wireless Backup Camera:

www.StylinTrucks.com $139.99.

Camera attaches to top of license plate. Power comes from wire slaved to backup light. Viewing screen goes anywhere in cab with power taken from any 12v. Or, a plug comes with kit to plug into cigarette lighter. Screen is 4".

No matter what camera you choose I highly recommend it. My convincing came when I was backing out of grocery parking and an adult was to my rear and left. From the look on the adults face I felt he was looking at something or someone in front of him. My instincts told me to wait. Instincts paid off. There was a 2 year old walking behind my rig who was impossible to see. The camera would have picked up the child with no problem.
