Here is the place that has the overlay kits. They are the best overlay kits I have seen.

I just realized you can't get Black from that website but that gives you a idea how they look.
you may be able to get black. they have a non-returnable custom color choice, so i am going to call them tomorrow and see exactly whats up, but it looks like it is going to be right at about $200.

thanks for the compliments and info guys.

i think it looks pretty good

i painted some of my dash pieces some time ago (i cant remember when exactly, maybe a year or so ago) and they are holding up really well. sure they are more prone to scratching, but mine have a fairly tough finish. mine havent been damaged yet, and im pretty rough on my interior

when you did your's did you remove the thin plastic covering or did you just scuff it up and paint? also did you use clear?

just wondering, because i am torn between getting overlays or figuring out how to paint the door trim.

i think that no matter how you do it, unless it is a color molded plastic, with no paint, you will have scratching. for example, if it is grey all the way through, where it wont show as bad, it will scratch. i am hoping that mine holds up better, because of the amount of clear i used.

hope that answers your question.

im not sure what youre talking about with the thin plastic piece i did not have the wood finish to start with so maybe thats why. i had the plain jane XLT plastic which i sanded a bit and just painted.
