Yeah, its not going to happen real soon, but it will eventually. I just bought my truck in the spring, I have a good almost new vehicle and plenty of time to wait.

The 6.7L Cummins is currently the only diesel engine that will meet 2010 emissions requirements.

I will be interesting to see which route they go with the lawsuit thrown into the mix.

You may want to do a little research. The fact that all diesel motors have to meet stricter emissions by 2010 is not hearsay.

Ford will either have to build its own new engine by 2010 or Navistar will have to spend millions of dollars to adapt the current 6.4L.

I know about the requirements in 2010. However, I said it'd be unlikely that they would ditch the 6.4L because of this. Read my post again. Ford would adapt the 6.4L before ditching all of the money they've spent to get this engine going than having to design a whole new motor.

The Ford engine is a 6.7L codenamed Scorpion. It is supposed to be released in '10 when the new regs take effect.

Of course, we'll never know for sure until it happens.

Just like the Hurricane for the F150?

Oh wait, didn't you guys hear we're just getting another 25 hp to the 5.4L? See my point? It's all speculation until it happens.

Which should be out in Feb. '09.

Yep, I see your point exactly. Just like we were supposed to get a 4.5L diesel in '02 or '03 or '04. The same as the 4.4L diesel that should be released in late '09 as a '10 model.

Just adding a little more fuel to the speculation fire!

Exactly...lets spend XXX Million dollars producing a new twin turbo Power Stroke and then only use it for 2 years. I can't see it happening.

Ford has a contract with Navistar for the 6.4L through 2012. That's part of what the lawsuit is about. So far as I know, nothing has come out of that whole deal yet so anything beyond that is purely speculation.

Fordmantpw seems to know his shtuff....

And why would there be a lawsuit about Ford offering their own diesel and breaking the Navistar contract if it wasn't even being planned? Didn't the judge dismiss that and send it to remediation?

This definitely isn't the only Ford and Ford truck forum I frequent. My wife says I'm obsessed.

Quackr, don't you work for Ford? Hmmmm...

Yes, a judge did order it to remediation but so far as I know, it's still not settled. All I said is that nothing is final.

But no, I don't work for Ford.

Nice truck! You are going to love the SD...I took mine offroad yesterday for the first time, and never even had to switch into 4wd. The only thing that you should have done different was get the diesel.
