Of course. Every autozone/pepboys type place will have them. They are usually under $10. Just cut the top of the bottle off so that you can get the shaft of the pump in. I usually reuse the first cut bottle for the rest of the job then so I don't have to keep cutting the bottles (or myself...)

Unofficially, I'd do it every 80-100K miles or so, or if/when the limited slip clutches (if applicable) start chattering a little, whichever comes first.

IIRC, the rear diff fluid is supposed to be "lifetime" fluid. Just for normal everyday driving, that may be fine, but if you do heavy duty activities (towing, offroading, etc), then your suggestions sounds good.
also, why would a company put a lifetime fluid in it....when they could use regular fluid and get people to have it changed more often...thus help dealerships make more money?
